They make molasses from sugar cane, and rum from distilled molasses. Molasses is the “brown” in brown sugar and it’s used a lot in baking and cooking. People used to pour it on their pancakes and waffles before maple syrup was created / discovered. Some people still do.
It’s an acquired taste and molasses typically pours really slow because of its high viscosity. Especially, in wintertime!
If there was a look to properly respond to the mouth of babbling and annoyance, it might be the look you could pour over a waffle — in wintertime.
