Hogwash – Noun / Synonym

So, exactly what is Hogwash? It it nonsense? Or is it soap for pigs? If you gave soap to a pig, would the pig actually use it? What if it was a human pig? Do human pigs use hogwash to wash off the nonsense? Too many questions. Cheers ~
